The Zipas: Iconic Masks from 6 Herencias

At 6 Herencias, each piece of jewelry tells a story that connects with our roots. One of the most iconic pieces is the Zipas, part of the mask collection that pays homage to the ancestral memory of Bacatá, the territory where Bogotá now stands. These masks are inspired by the ancient Muisca rulers, the Zipas, who led the Zipagos and were considered the symbol of order and strength of their people.

The origin of this piece of jewelry lies in the story of the last Zipa Tisquesusa, the leader who bravely resisted the arrival of the Spanish. His fight to protect his people and his lands made him a symbol of resistance, honor, and dignity. By reinterpreting his legacy in a contemporary mask, we pay creative tribute to his indomitable spirit. This piece not only represents a leader, but also the echo of a civilization that defended its worldview and traditions.

Each Zipas mask is crafted from recycled silver with 24-karat gold plating, following the 6 Herencias seal of quality. Its design evokes the strength of the Muisca heritage, adapted to a contemporary aesthetic language that connects the ancestral with the modern. In this way, the jewel becomes a bridge between cultural memory and the present, inviting us to reflect on our roots and the value of keeping them alive.

In pre-Columbian history, the Zipas were not simply rulers, but spiritual and political leaders who embodied the unity of their people. Remembering the Zipa Tisquesusa through this jewel is also a reminder of the sacrifice of those who defended Bacatá, and recognizing how their legacy continues to influence our identity.

The Zipas mask is not just an accessory; it is a work of symbolism. Its wearer carries with them a fragment of Bogotá’s history before it was Bogotá, an artistic testament that honors the memory of a leader who fought for freedom.

With this piece, 6 Herencias invites its wearers to connect with the power of history and reinterpret the strength of Tisquesusa through their own personal experience.
