Where does the name 6 herencias come from?

I love Carlos Vives’ songs, they remind me of my childhood…Specifically the trips we had with my cousins in Girardot, where the heat, the humidity, the smell of the pool and hearing the land of oblivion in the background immersed me in melancholy and great emotion.

This introduction explains part of where the name comes from. I left Colombia 13 years ago and although my comings and goings are more frequent these days, it was a challenge to be away. I did it by choice and even though it was by choice to be away from my land, at times I get a lump in my throat.

In those days when I was developing what I wanted to do with that brand that didn’t have a name, I did a whole exploration of names, Balgua, my Balgua, the heritage, the root… when suddenly while I was looking for names the land of oblivion started to sound… I listened to the lyrics over and over again, I got excited, I found the background of the lyrics and what it produced in me when I listened to it as a child on those trips to Girardot. Nostalgia, my roots, my land, its colors, its mountains, my grandparents, my ancestors.

There I said I want to put together a name that speaks of Colombia but is not properly the name of the country. And suddenly it came to my head, we are 6 regions and I am the heritage that my ancestors left me, we are the heritage that we leave through our experience, our learning, our wisdom…

I leave the studio and with great emotion I tell my husband, I have the name but listen to this song first. It will be called 6HERENCIAS.
